Buddy Schwimmer, Emcee

Buddy Schwimmer is a 4 time California freestyle dance champion, a national disco champion, and winner of over 2,000 dance titles. Multi-talented, he has appeared on "American Bandstand," other TV shows and was in the movie "American Graffitti." He owns 5-6-7-8 Dance Studio in California and is inventor of Night Club Two-Step.

Terry Gardner, Emcee

Terry Gardner is a DJ, dancer and creator of www.tcswing.com, Minnesota's most popular swing website. He hosts a number of dances in that areas and with his partner, Cindy, has helped spend Lindy to other areas in the midwest.

and Eva Lagerqvist

Eddie & Eva have been dancing together for many years and are both original members of Sweden's The Rhythm Hot Shots. TRHS is a professional performance troupe which specializes in the Afro-American dance tradition and are well known for their outstanding acrobatic Lindy Hop. Their credits include over 1000 performances worldwide, over 25 TV appearances in Sweden and many international tours.

Erik Robison and Sylvia Skylar

Erik and Sylvia specialize in maintaining the authenticity of America's most beloved dance - swing. This range of dance includes the early 1900's Blackbottom, the 1920's Charleston, the 1930's Shag and Balboa, and the 1940's and 50's Lindyhop. They have taught across the US and in Europe.

Violeta Galargarza

Violeta Galargarza

Violeta (V to her friends) has a background in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Classical, and Modern Dance which she today blends with the flavors of Hip Hop, Break Dancing, African & Reggae. Multi-faceted, V includes the traditional Latin styles of Salsa, Merengue, Cumbia, Rumba, & red blooded Tango. She developed her talents in The Boys Harbor School of the Arts, The School of The Performing Arts and Alvin Ailley Dance Company. Currently, Violeta is the director of K.R.3T.'s (Keep Rising To The Top), a group of over 60 dancers.


Chester Whitmore 

Chester is known as a tapper, Lindy Hop and Vernacular Jazz Dancer, composer, comedian, actor, choreographer, stuntman and bandleader. He is a multi-talented teacher that continues to surprise everyone. We believe he's from another planet. He started out as a tap dancer in 1974 and, for many years, was a protégé of the famous tap legend John Bubbles. He has also worked together with many tap masters such as the Nicholas Brothers, Willie Covan and stars like Michael Jackson, Sammy Davis Jr. and Lionel Hampton. Mr. Whitmore has his own well-reputed dance company, Black Ballet Jazz specializing in Afro-American vernacular dancing.

Angie Whitworth and Roddy Caravella

Angie and Roddy have been dancing in the New York scene for about six years. They have also taught and performed together and individually in Florida, Georgia, Canada, Germany, and Hong Kong. They have performed with Wynton Marsalis and The Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, on several TV shows and in the most recent commercial for Foxwoods Casino/Resort and The Magic Of Christmas featuring Tony Bennett and Garth Brooks. They are featured dancers in the feature film "Swing City." They are also active on the competition scene.

Sylvia and Jason are a new partnership, each having parted company with another, Sylvia with Jonathan Bixby and Jason with Virginie. They are a unique blend of the Dean Collins style of Lindy and a contemporary Hip Hop flavor.

Justin and Jenn

Jenn and Justin are not only masters of musicality, connection and timing, but they do it all keeping the original flavor of lindy hop alive.They are DJs and members of both the Rugcutters and the Hollywood Jitterbugs. They are firm believers in the theory that, "You have to know where you came from, to know where you are going." Know your roots!

Carol Fraser

Carol Fraser

Carol began her dancing career when she was 3 years old with formal dance training in ballet, tap and jazz.  She has performed and competed in numerous dance troupes throughout the US and Europe and has judged at many Tapestry and Talent Jazz Dance competitions and United Spirit Association Cheerleading competitions.  Her lindy hop career began in January 2000 at Dance Manhattan Dance Studios in New York City.  She has studied with some of the top teachers in the world and performed and competed throughout the US.Carol competes at swing dance events throughout the US.  Her most recent accomplishments include:
2nd Place in Showcase Lindy Hop Division with Manu Smith at the 2002 North Atlantic Dance Championships,
1st Place in the Classic Division with Dave Graybill at the 2002 Dance Pros New Year’s Eve Extravaganza and
1st Place in the Classic Division with Manu Smith at the 2001 Swingin’ New England Swing Festival. Carol choreographs for partnerships and dance troupes.   She manages and choreographs for her two dance teams, THUNDERPUSS and VARSITY SWING.

Devona Carter and Tiffany Barbarash

Devona and Tiffany have backgrounds in modern, jazz, contact improvisation, ballet, folk, the Dunham technique, tap, Pilates, and hip hop. They are a recently formed a partnership focused on fusing performance and vernacular dance. Tthey are developing a company of dancers, Kazabazua, to showcase this synthesis and promote dancing for people of all ages and backgrounds.

Chazz Young

Chazz Young, born in Harlem, NY, was inspired to dance after seeing his father, Frankie Manning, perform at the Roxy Theatre in NY. As a 17 year old, Chazz joined the Norma Miller Dance Troupe, traveling all over the U.S. and internationally. Years later, he became the lead tap dancer for Norma's Four Jazzmen. He has worked with Cab Calloway, Sammy Davis, Jr., Redd Foxx, Count Basie and Duke Ellington. He has appeared at NY's famed Apollo Theatre and in the films Cotton Club and Malcolm X.


Laura Jeffers

Laura Jeffers is director of the Big Apple Lindy Hoppers performance troupe. She teaches at the Sandra Cameron Dance Center in NYC and at camps and competition weekends all over the Northeast. Students and workshop participants enjoy Laura’s energy and enthusiasm, as well as her focus on partner interaction, musicality, self-expression, and having fun. To quote one event organizer: “It seems as if everyone who took your classes thought you danced on water!”

Andrea was a successful International Latin competitor before joining the Swing scene. She has first place winnings in Champion Jack & Jills and Strictly Swing competitions all over the U.S. swing dance circuit. She is, also, an emcee and DJ, Her dance career includes appearing on stage and television. She has a smooth/sophisticated yet funky and fun style. She is well-known for her exciting, intricate, syncopated footwork   join her Sunday 10/27 at 10 a.m. for a fun West Coast Swing workshop specifically suited to the Lindy dancer.

Andrea Deaton will be offering a non-weekend pass workshop called West Coast for Lindyhoppers at 10am on Sunday, October 27 for $10 per person.
