The Detroit Lindy Workshop is pleased to announce a Lindy Boot Camp, a 5-hour swing dance intensive covering the spectrum beginning with popular six-count dance steps, to Lindy Hop, Charleston, the Blues and a few dance couple tricks. The late afternoon event is scheduled for Saturday, September 17, 2011 from 4:00pm to 9:00pm at Circa 1890 Saloon, 5474 Cass Avenue south of Ferry in Detroit. The Boot Camp is $5 per person. The afternoon workshop will be taught by Paulette Brockington. Mentored by the late Frankie Manning , an orchestrator of the Lindy Hop, she has become a three-time dance champion. She is an international workshop teacher and coach and dance competition judge, who performs many styles of swing dances and other ballroom dances. In addition, she was a 2008 ArtServe Michigan Arts Educator of the Year.

The Boot Camp’s registration fee may be applied to October’s Detroit Lindy Workshop with world champion Lindy Hoppers Skye Humphries and Naomi Uyama. PLUS, it’s free for those already registered for the Workshop. So bring your dancing shoes to Circa Saloon, 5474 Cass Avenue in Detroit for an afternoon of dancing, good American food and drink in the back room.
